With Westchase District's Woodchase Park scheduled to open this fall, the District recently provided a sneak peak event for apartment and building managers in the area. Woodchase Park has entered the landscaping phase with Maiden Grass, Sandi Leaf Fig Ivy, Allee Elms and Fringe Trees now planted in the ground around the park as construction nears completion. Crews are finishing work on a 2.25-mile “side path” that will improve connections to the Terry Hershey Trail, while improving roadway conditions that connect the Walnut Bend neighborhood to the West Sam Houston Tollway frontage road. Highrise Live Oaks were planted originally by Westchase District in 2005. At that time, they were a newly-propagated tree. Westchase District is pleased to announce that multiple projects were selected for recognition in the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) annual Parks and Natural Areas Award Program. Westchase District received Honorable Mention Award for Trailside Park in the Projects On-the-Ground category under $500,000. The District also received Special Recognition Awards in the Planning Process category for Wilcrest Park and Woodchase Park.
