Neighborhood News: Zoes Kitchen Becomes Cava, Woodchase Park Mural Wows | WESTCHASE DISTRICT

A new mural provides a vibrant backdrop for events and everyday activities at Woodchase Park.

New Adams’ Mural Animates Park
A new mural at Woodchase Park is adding vibrancy to the park’s performance pavilion. Renowned public artist Reginald Adams completed his latest public mural on the pavilion wall facing the performance lawn. The mural features a medley of flower blooms and leaves in spring colors. Adams’ park mural joins his other creations in the District including the east wall of Westchase Auto Repair Center, a mosaic seat bench on the Brays Bayou Connector Trail, box culverts on Library Loop Trail, and the B&E Reprographics wall on Walnut Bend Lane. “Reginald’s art always tops our creative expectations,” said Louis Jullien, parks programming director. “He knows how to animate the look and feel of our distinct areas and make the art blend in naturally.”

Cava converted Zoes Kitchen at 2550 CityWest as part of Cava Group’s acquisition of Zoes around the country.

Ramen Jin Enjoyed at Phillips 66
Employees of Phillips 66 no longer have to leave the campus to enjoy their favorite ramen dishes. Westchase District fave, Ramen Jin, recently became a food service vendor in Phillips 66’s food court. According to owner Brian Chen, Ramen Jin is contracted under Fooda, which holds a food operations contract with Phillips 66. “We’ve had customers coming from Phillips 66 for the past 9 years,” said Chen. “Now they can just go downstairs and enjoy our ramen.” Chen keeps the menu simple, serving only two types of Ramen – his popular Tonkatsu and Spicy Miso – and one rice bowl dish. While Ramen Jin will pause its food service for the summer in the food court cafeteria, Fooda has also invited Chen to join additional locations in the Houston area where it has food service contracts. If you don’t work at Phillips 66, you can still enjoy Ramen Jin at 11181 Westheimer.

Cava Checks In
The acquisition of 261 Zoes Kitchen stores by Cava Group in 2018 has resulted in Cava coming to Westchase District. Cava recently converted the former Zoes Kitchen at 2550 CityWest Blvd and reopened its doors under the new brand. Cava has reported that flipping Zoes locations into Cava locations is quicker and less expensive than building new restaurants. A fast casual Mediterranean restaurant concept, Cava is known for its dips, spreads and sauces that combine with salads, greens and proteins to create meals that diners can customize to their tastes.
