Westchase Restaurants Dish up the Best in Bird | WESTCHASE DISTRICT

Chicken lovers rejoice! Westchase District has a whole flock of restaurants that cater to the chicken lovers in our neighborhood with everything from spicy chicken, to southern fried chicken to wings.

Main Bird Hot Chicken (10705 Westheimer) features Nashville-style hot chicken with custom spice blends that range from no spice to “cluck it.” Savory sides include “Cluck it up Fries” — waffle fries topped with chopped tenders of your spice level, pickles and choice of sauce — or “Dirty Mac” — waffle fries topped with chopped tenders of your spice level, creamy mac and choice of sauce.

More Nashville-style hot chicken can be found at Urban Bird (10001 Westheimer). Here heat levels range from “country” to “fire in the hole.” Chicken afficionados can order a chicken tender basket, tenders on a Brioche bun or chicken and waffles. Diners can choose from Meal Fries (BBQ Mac, Tijuana, Buffalo Mac or Thai Fighter) or Street Fries (Nacho Fries, Mac Fries, Elote Fries or Flamin Hot Cheeto Fries.) Or you can opt for the Bird Pack, featuring 10 jumbo tenders, 4 Texas Toast, 2 large sides, 5 bird sauces and pickles.

92 Chicken (11191 Westheimer) features Korean Style Fried Chicken, described as “crispy, juicy fried chicken that’s perfectly seasoned, with an impressive selection of 15 mouthwatering sauces.” Daily lunch specials supplement the menu of tenders, wings and drumsticks. Appetizers include fried calamari, fried gizzards, mozzarella cheese sticks and beef bulgogi dumplings.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has two locations in Westchase District — 11318 Westheimer and 10850 Harwin — serving up New Orleans-style fried chicken. Their unique and flavorful food includes spicy chicken, chicken tenders, fried shrimp and chicken dippers. At Popeyes, diners can “build your own bundle” featuring the choice of three proteins and two sides for $20.

Frenchy’s Chicken has served up New Orleans-inspired chicken since 1969. The Westchase location, at 10414 Richmond Avenue, offers chicken wings, fried chicken, boudin balls, fried fish and shrimp. They serve family meals, as well as a “tailgate party” package that includes 24 pieces of chicken plus three large sides and six peppers. Save room for dessert! You can top off your meal with Frenchy’s lemon cake, peach cobbler, sweet potato pie or creole pecan praline.

Stop by 3760 S. Gessner for Louisiana Fried Chicken. Dine inside or pick up at their drive-thru window for fried chicken, fish, shrimp and chicken tenders. Combo meals and family dinners are also available. Sides include french fries, mashed potatoes, fried okra, coleslaw, dirty rice and red beans & rice.

And last, but never least, is Wingstop, located at 10001 Westheimer. While Wingstop is best known for wings — both classic and boneless — you can also find crispy chicken tenders and chicken sandwiches at Wingstop. Sides include four kinds of fries, cajun fried corn or veggie sticks. Use their handy online Wing Calculator to determine exactly how many to buy. Just fill in how many people you’re feeding and how hungry they are (snacky, hungry or starving) and the calculator will offer meal suggestions.
