Korean Beauty Treatments Come to Westchase District | WESTCHASE DISTRICT

Tucked in a quiet shopping center on Westheimer, just a few yards from the hustle and bustle of one of Houston’s busiest streets is a quiet retreat where women and men enjoy beauty treatments that originated in South Korea. Also known as K-beauty, the South Korean skin care treatments are well known for using natural ingredients to clean, exfoliate and hydrate the skin.

The spa is called K Beauty Lab and owner Hannah Ahn is happy with the success her business has enjoyed since opening in Westchase District two years ago. “We’ve had more than 4000 customers since opening,” said Ahn. “They come from Houston, Sugar Land, Pearland, Humble, Spring and Katy.”

Ahn worked in med spas in Seoul, South Korea and in Houston before deciding to open her own business. She offers facials, body treatments, scalp treatments and even personal color consultation.

Measurements before treatments

Before doing any treatments, Anh will offer customers a state-of-the-art skin analysis that measures vital skin metrics including hydration, elasticity, pigmentation, pore size, wrinkles and skin age. “A doctor or aesthetician can look at your skin and give you their opinion on what could be done. But our treatments are based on actual measurements and data,” said Ahn.

K Beauty Lab has three treatment rooms. Two are connected allowing two friends or a husband and wife to come in and enjoy treatments together. Maintenance facials use varying treatments to address sagging skin, promote collagen production and rejuvenate skin. An acne treatment facial is also available that uses top acne products and Local Dynamic Micro-Massage ultrasound therapy to address the specific needs of acne-prone skin. These treatments range between $150 and $250.

Korean-style relaxation: One of three treatment rooms at K Beauty Lab is prepped and ready for the next client.

Other facials include microneedling to stimulate collagen production and encourage the production of new skin cells. “It’s like growing new, baby skin,” said Ahn. The skin boosters include peptides, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid to prevent skin aging and improve skin condition. Other “superjection” facials use pure hyaluronic acid, Vitamin B12 and top ingredients such as PDRN (salmon DNA) to boost skin elasticity and address complex skin concerns. These treatments range between $350 and $600.

Higher end treatments use the Oligio X machine, which is a non-surgical skin tightening and lifting treatment that uses radiofrequency technology.  These treatments, which range between $1000 and $2400, are performed in the spa’s VIP room on the face, jawline and neck.

Scalp and body treatment

Body and facial slimming treatments are performed using RF and cavitation treatments, which use ultrasound technology to break down and eliminate fat cells. The fat cells break down into a liquid state and are naturally eliminated through the lymphatic system.

Scalp water jet therapy and scalp & facial collaboration use nutrients and stimulating massages to boost blood circulation and promote hair growth. “After all of our facial and scalp treatments, we massage the client’s face and scalp. We want them to go home feeling relaxed,” said Ahn.

Multi-national support

Ahn noted that there are relatively few K-beauty spas in Houston.  She likes her location between Daido Japanese Market and Gengi Restaurant & Bar – both of which serve a diverse clientele, just like K Beauty Lab.

Ahn employs four aestheticians and three marketing specialists. “Many clients come here after seeing us on TikTok or Instagram,” said Ahn. “They come here because they don’t want Botox and fillers. They don’t want to be fake. They want to enjoy rejuvenated, younger looking skin.”

K Beauty Lab enjoys a 4.9 Google review score, among more than 100 reviews.
