Walnut Bend Construction Updates | WESTCHASE DISTRICT

Walnut Bend Construction Updates

Effective April 1, 2021: Only northbound traffic is allowed on Walnut Bend Lane between Richmond and Westheimer. Watch for directional signs and traffic control flaggers who will be directing traffic on the roadway. The contractor is entering the final phase of work on this project.

Effective March 23, 2020: Phase 2 of our Walnut Bend reconstruction is underway. That means that one lane has been permanently closed and north and southbound traffic are sharing the remaining lane. Please follow the direction of traffic control workers and avoid the roadway if possible. That will give greater access to the motorists who must use Walnut Bend to access their home or office. If you need to reminded that the pain will be worth the gain, revisit our December Westchase Today story about the improvements that are coming to Walnut Bend Lane. https://bit.ly/2xfnr2O

Beginning Monday, September 2, 2019: the contractor will begin work on the long-anticipated rebuild of Walnut Bend Lane.

The contractor is mobilizing material and equipment and will begin working on Walnut Bend north from Westpark Drive to Richmond Avenue. Motorists and residents will experience intermittent lane closures, both northbound and southbound beginning the first week of September. The outside lanes in both directions will be closed, but motorists will be able to travel in both directions via the inside two lanes.

Business and apartment communities may experience limited access. But their properties will always have at least one driveway open.

Absolutely no on-street parking will be permitted for the duration of this project.

METRO may relocate bus stops during the construction.

Area residents and employees of Westchase District businesses are invited to attend a kick-off event for the project on Tuesday, September 10th at 9:00 am on the northeast corner of Richmond and Walnut Bend. Click here for more information and to RSVP.
